Clear Rivers Adventure
This multi-activity adventure trip will take you along some of the most beautiful rivers in Croatia as well as through Plitvice Lakes National Park. On foot, by bike or from your kayak, you will see some of the most beautiful countryside to be found anywhere in Europe. At every opportunity, our guides will steer you away from civilization ensuring a truly memorable experience which we are sure will stay with you for many years to come.
The accommodation is a friendly, family-run, 3 star hotel on the banks of the Mreznica River, approximately one hours drive from Zagreb and Rijeka airports. The restaurant overlooks an old mill close to a small waterfall and serves freshly caught fish, as well as home-grown vegetables. Barbecues are also a specialty of the house and make for a convivial end to the days activities. Rooms are all air-conditioned and equipped with en suite bathrooms, TV, mini bar and telephone.
Itinerary
Day 1 Saturday:
Transfer from either Zagreb or Rijeka airport to the village of Zvecaj to the hotel, located by the river, deep in the countryside. After settling in to your room, meet the other members of the group over dinner.
Day 2 Sunday:
The day starts with kayak/canoe instruction after which you will set off upstream to begin the trip along a section of the Mreznica River. The Mreznica is a typical 'karst' river with numerous travertine waterfalls interspersed with calm, clear water - perfect for a cooling swim. After a light picnic on the bank, paddle back to the hotel for riverside barbecue that evening.
Day 3 Monday:
An expedition down the Mreznica River, with opportunity for lots of swimming. This is the most beautiful part of the river, where the water temperature in summer can reach 25 degrees Celsius. You will travel down deep, narrow canyons and many waterfalls - up to 10 meters high.
Day 4 Tuesday:
Venture into Plitvice Lakes National Park for a hiking tour of the 16 lakes and hundreds of waterfalls this World Heritage Site has to offer. Follow the narrow tracks closed to traffic leading through forest, meadows, hills and along the shores of the lake. We consider this to be one of the most beautiful areas in Europe.
Day 5 Wednesday:
Take an easy bike tour along the winding roads allowing you to absorb the countryside and explore the surrounding villages.
Day 6 Thursday:
Enjoy rafting on nearby Dobra River which offers the white water rafting in Croatia.
(During periods of low water levels, rafts may be exchanged for Kayaks.)
Day 7 Friday:
A day to be spent at leisure - relax by the river or take an optional bicycle tour to other places of interest in the area - or a train ride to Zagreb, the cultural and political centre and capital City of Croatia.
Day 8 Saturday:
Depart Zvecaj Village for the airport and flight home.
