Cavtat
and the Elafiti IslandsLocated to the south of Dubrovnik, Cavtat is a resort to which guests return time and time again. The scenery is spectacular, with majestic mountains forming a stunning backdrop to picturesque bays. You’ll find a warm welcome in the many cafés and restaurants which line the harbour and shoreline. From Cavtat, visiting Dubrovnik is so easy: take a water-taxi – a wonderful way to travel – or catch the reasonably priced and reliable local bus.
With its mild climate, sandy beaches and subtropical vegetation, Lopud is waiting to play host to guests looking to escape the bustle of everyday life. Shady palm, pine and cypress trees line the water-front, creating a genuine oasis of peace and quiet. This is a car-free island, so you can explore its sixteenth century churches and monasteries free from the hum of traffic. With Dubrovnik just 10 kilometres from Lopud, getting back to the mainland is easy: simply take one of the many ferries.
The largest of the Elafiti Islands, Sipan remains relatively undiscovered, providing an experience hard to find elsewhere in the Mediterranean. Scattered with Roman remains and unspoilt by tourism, the island is dominated by two limestone crests. Their slopes abundant with vines and orchards, olives, figs, carob, almonds and oranges are all lovingly cultivated here. You’ll discover small, secluded coves and lush meadows... and should the peace and quiet become too overwhelming, the local ferries can take you back to the mainland for a day’s sightseeing!
